Cable Crossover

Type: Chest
Cable crossover exercises isolate the entire chest muscle. The cable crossover can be used as an alternative to the dumbbell fly or pec deck machine fly. They are also known as cable flies and can form part of a superset with other chest exercises to help fatigue the chest muscles for a more intense workout. Below you'll find a video guide and step by step instructions that describe the correct technique for the cable crossover exercise.

Cable Crossover Steps:

Step 1:
Position the cables at head height or above.

Step 2:
Assume a split stance, with back to the cable machine.

Step 3:
Grip the handles and fix the elbows, with a slight bend.

Step 4:
Brace the abdominals and back muscles to make sure you keep a straight back throughout the movement, bring the handles together to a position in line with the naval.

Step 5:
Breath in slowly and return to the start position.

Top Tip:

  • Preserve a neutral spine throughout the movement
