Leg Curl, Stability Ball

Type: Legs
The stability ball leg curl is a great exercise to work your hamstrings, calves and butt. In performing this motion you will also be strengthening your lower back and core muscles while you hold the bridge position on the ball. Contraction of the muscles in your legs occurs when rolling the ball in towards yourself. This exercise is excellent to build your posterior chain and develop core strength.

Leg Curl, Stability Ball Steps:

Step 1:
While lying on your back, place your lower legs on a Swiss ball. Then, put your hands flat on the floor next to your hips.

Step 2:
Push your hips up so that your body forms a straight line from your shoulders to your knees (a 45 degree angle with the ground). Without pausing, pull your heels toward you and roll the ball as close as possible to your butt.

Step 3:
Pause, and then roll the ball back until your body is in a straight line again.

Top Tip:

  • Be sure to maintain a 45 degree angle with the floor while performing this exercise. This will ensure the development of your core strength.
  • Keep your back straight throughout the motion.
