Squat Spassov

Type: Legs
The spassov squat is an effective exercise for the quads and glutes, and is performed by adopting a split squat position with the trailing leg suspended on a gym bench. This increases the intensity of the squat movement by challenging balance and also works each leg independently. Below you'll find a video guide and step by step instructions that describes the correct technique for the spassov squat.

Squat Spassov Steps:

Step 1:
Stand in front of a gym bench or step

Step 2:
Take a normal step forwards away from the bench

Step 3:
Reach back with one leg and rest the toes on the top of the bench

Step 4:
Place the hands on the top of the head

Step 5:
Bend the lead leg at the knee and squat down as low as you can

Step 6:
Then push back up through the thighs and hips to the start position

Step 7:
Complete the required number of repetitions and then swap legs to finish the set
