The speed squat is an effective exercise for developing strength and power in the quads and glutes, and is performed by standing with the feet shoulder width apart and squatting down below parallel with your weight on your heels. Below you'll find a video guide and step by step instructions that describes the correct technique for speed squats.

Squat, Speed Steps:

Step 1:
Stand with feet shoulder width apart

Step 2:
Place your arms out in front of you

Step 3:
Tense the stomach and back muscles

Step 4:
Start the squat by bending at the knees and hips, keeping the back straight

Step 5:
Rapidly lower until the thighs are below parallel

Step 6:
Rapidly return to the start by pushing the ground away

Step 7:
This is one repetition
