Step Up, Explosive

The explosive step up is an effective exercise for developing the quads and glutes, and is performed by stepping onto a box or bench and lifting the body and the opposite knee up. This plyometric version of the step up will develop explosive power in the legs as well as good balance and coordination. Below you'll find a video guide and step by step instructions that describes the correct technique for the explosive step up exercise.

Step Up, Explosive Steps:

Step 1:
Stand upright in front of a step with feet shoulder width apart

Step 2:
Place one foot on top of the step and rapidly push up with both legs

Step 3:
Keep the trailing leg behind, do not place it on the bench

Step 4:
Both legs should leave the ground

Step 5:
Land with the leading foot on the step and trailing foot on the floor

Step 6:
Step back to the start position

Step 7:
This is one repetition

Step 8:
Swap legs to complete the set
