Hamstring Stretch

The hamstring stretch targets the hamstring muscles located in the rear thigh. The hamstring muscles are used to extend the hip and also assist in bending the knee. They are targeted in exercises such as straight leg dead lift and leg curl. Perform this stretch after your leg workout to relieve tight muscles and help maintain flexibility. Hamstring Stretch Steps:

Step 1:
Lie on your back on a gym mat.

Step 2:
Bend both legs at the knees.

Step 3:
Loop a yoga strap or gym towel around the sole of one foot.

Step 4:
Raise and straighten the leg and pull it in towards the torso.

Step 5:
Feel the stretch in the hamstrings of the rear thigh.

Step 6:
Hold the stretch for 15 to 30 secs.

Step 7:
Repeat for the opposite leg.
