assisted pullups or lat pull?

I am going to start the rapid fat loss workout on Monday and noticed that one day has pullups. Right now I physically can't do 1 pullup unassisted. Is it better to do an assisted pullup or should I do underhanded lat pulldowns while I build up strength and loose weight?

Either option would be solid- but I'd lead towards assisted pullups.

However, doing this program on a more long-term basis isn't the best option for you. Instead, get into our Get Started section and select a Training Program that's right for you. In it, you likely won't find movements that you're physically incapable of doing. We then progress you to the point where you can.

I probably will start one of the programs in about 2 months. Right now my work/family schedule really limits my days that I can workout. Pretty much 2x per week in the gym is best that I can do right now. That will change in about 2 months and I will choose a program then.

I hear ya - and we're all busy (some of us more than others) so it can be difficult to delegate time to exercise. The way I personally got around this was by mapping out everything I had to do every single day. I went down it like a list and found that I got a TON more done in just as much time. It reduced my stress levels, got me in better shape, and made me much more successful across the board. You may want to try something like this. Just because you're busy doesn't mean your body should suffer the consequences!

Between work and my commute to/from work, I have to write off 10-12 hours per day. That leaves the other 14-12 hours for time with my family and sleep. I'm already only getting 6 hours of sleep per night because those family commitments. Not sure a list can really help that timeframe. Good thing is that with it finally getting warmer outside I can start doing more fun things outside with my 5yr old like playing baseball, soccer, or even hiking.

That's a great idea!

While making a list may not help as much in your case, it doesn't necessarily mean you've got no options. They're there if you really want to find them - they always are. Maybe your lunch break at work would be a more suitable time to exercise? Then you wouldn't have to commit any time to exercise that you could otherwise spend with your family.

It might take a little bit of a brainstorm on your part - but finding a way to integrate regular exercise into your routine will ensure you can spend much more time with your family in the form of a longer, healthier life!
