Jacob Reed, MS, CSCS
Doctoral Candidate in Sport Performance, East Tennessee State University
I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA, have published articles in scientific journals and am currently finishing my PhD in Sport Performance while simultaneously serving as a Division I collegiate strength and conditioning coach as well as sport scientist. My passion is providing people a scientifically based approach to training. What does this mean? This means that I have spent the last 9 years of my life researching proper training protocols through scientifically published text as well as communication with various professionals in the field. My mentors include multiple exercise physiologists and strength coaches that have worked with Olympians, some winning Gold medals. It is through these experiences that I provide a no BS and myth free training program. Everything I program has a reason based on science, not "because I said so" or "well, so and so did this so it must be good". On top of my education and practical experience, I have devoted my career to providing one on one care and attention to all that I work with. In doing this I can provide the best possible experience for each person, which is what truly matters. Everyone is different, and I make sure to recognize those differences and modify as needed. Personally, I have been active in many different disciplines. In the past I have played football, rugby, ran half marathons, competed in a sprint triathalon, spent over a year training as a competitive Weightlifter and now train to ensure the best quality of life possible. My wife and I are both extremely active, getting up at 5:30 most mornings so that we can get to the gym before work as we typically train 1-2 times per day. My life is devoted to health, fitness, athleticism and happiness through proper exercise. It is this dedication I bring to all my programs and clients.
